Paul: Iowa trip might influence 2012 decision
CNN Political Reporter Peter Hamby |
Des Moines, Iowa (CNN) – Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, said during a sojourn in Iowa on Monday that the trip could influence his decision-making process as he mulls another presidential run in 2012.
“The truth is, my answer has been, I am 50/50 on the issue of running or not running,” he said. “I really don’t know. Maybe a trip like this will help me make up my mind.”
Paul was speaking to reporters in Pella after an event organized by the Family Leader, an Iowa-based conservative Christian group.

The libertarian icon will also travel to New Hampshire, which hosts the nation’s first presidential primary, later in March.
Paul said events beyond his control might compel him to join the presidential field.
“If there is a monetary crisis brewing and it is very evident to the America people that they need to get an answer about the monetary system, I have always said I would have a hard time remaining quiet,” he said. “What I would do to not be quiet, I don’t know.”
